When considering the project and the site’s location in Arcadia, elements from the local flora and fauna, landmarks, and architectural history of the city are combined with cultural references, which celebrate the rich diversity of people and cultures that have lived and worked in the region over time. This includes, but is not limited to, those of the Chinese, who make up the largest portion of the current population, the Japanese, who were interned at the Santa Anita Assembly in 1942, and the Hahamog'na Tongva people, who are recognized as the original inhabitants of the land. The weaving together of these images and symbols, based on distinct yet familiar historical and cultural icons from the area, works as a metaphor for social harmony.

Together, human histories and perspectives are combined and interwoven. Symbols migrate and cross boundaries and are transformed by encounters with other forms. The layering and weaving of both distinct and shared imagery encourage discovery, celebrate difference, connection, and understanding.
