The Chrysanthemum imagery emerges as a calligraphic line that extends across the surface of the building and signifies longevity of life and good luck in the home.  The Lotus represents purity, resilience and rebirth.  The interior shape of the Lotus includes the four-petaled (Bese Saka), West African (Ghana/Adinkra) symbol for abundance and unity.  The (Boa Me Na Me Moa Wo) symbol for cooperation and interdependence suggests a trellis floating and disintegrating as it reaches toward the sky.  Embedded within each shape is a sampling of textiles mined from cultures across the world - a Peruvian Weaving, Indonesian Batik, Chinese Embroidery, Thai Silk, Indian Sari, Japanese Indigo and African Kuba Cloth.
